Ionuț Moșteanu stated that he sent the Parliament the approval for the purchase of 216 tanks, with an estimated budget of 6.5 billion euros. He emphasized the necessity of equipping the Romanian Army, highlighting that the equipment will comply with NATO standards and that production will take place in Romania. The Parliament's approval will allow for a restricted tender with manufacturers, and deliveries are expected to begin in 2027, considering that the Romanian army has been under-equipped in the past.
