The recent announcement by the Minister of Finance, Alexandru Nazare, brought bad news for pensioners, as pension assistance will be lower than initially announced. Instead of pensioners with pensions under 3,000 lei, only those with pensions under 2,000 lei will benefit from assistance. This change was determined by budget constraints, with the government having limited resources. The assistance will be granted in two tranches, and the maximum amount will be 800 lei for pensioners with pensions between 1,500 and 2,000 lei. Additionally, pensioners with pensions under 1,500 lei will receive 1,000 lei, but not all pensioners will receive the same amount, as there is a possibility that some will receive smaller sums. In total, it is estimated that just over 2 million pensioners will benefit from this assistance.
