Labor Minister Florin Manole announced Saturday evening in Alba Iulia that there is no risk that pensioners with low incomes will fail to receive the second installment of the state-provided financial aid in December. He said the necessary funds had been included in the budget since the beginning of the year.
“There is no dilemma” and “there is no reason for concern,” the minister said when asked whether funds were available to pay the support intended for pensioners with monthly incomes of up to 3,000 lei.
The second installment will be paid together with the pension, depending on monthly income. Pensioners receiving up to 1,500 lei will receive 500 lei. For incomes between 1,501 and 2,000 lei, the aid will amount to 400 lei, while for pensions between 2,001 and 3,000 lei, the sum will be 300 lei.
The support is granted based on the beneficiary’s combined income and also includes survivor pensioners, for each eligible beneficiary.
Asked whether the program would continue next year, Florin Manole said he would prefer pension indexation. He described the aid as useful and necessary, but insufficient in the absence of a permanent pension increase.
