Virgil Popescu said that the Neptun Deep project in the Black Sea is crucial for the energy future of the European Union, as Romania has the potential to become a central player in eliminating dependence on Russian gas. With reserves estimated at 100 billion cubic meters, Neptun Deep could turn Romania from a gas importer into a gas exporter. Popescu says gas exploitation will ensure domestic consumption and contribute to Europe's energy security, as Romania has all the necessary resources to meet these objectives.
