The Petrom gas station on Brașov street in Bucharest displayed on March 18 a price of 8.690 lei per liter for gasoline and 9.25 lei for diesel, marking an increase of 10 bani and, respectively, 15 bani per liter.

This is the tenth price increase in March, following a similar series of increases in February, caused by the effects of the war in the East. In the last month, gasoline has increased by 64 bani per liter, while diesel has risen by 1.01 lei.

The president of the Competition Council, Bogdan Chirițoiu, stated that no anti-competitive practices have been identified in the fuel market, but they are monitoring the situation.

Recent discussions between OMV officials and the government focus on possible measures to reduce excise duties or prices, but no clear conclusions have been established yet.

In this context, prices are expected to continue to fluctuate, depending on the evolution of international markets.
