The price of diesel continued to rise on Friday by 9 bani per liter, while gasoline remained at the same level as Thursday. According to the Fuel Price Monitor application, standard diesel costs 8.6 lei at a Petrom gas station in the Capital and 8.67 lei at OMV, while premium diesel has reached 9.23 lei. The cheapest gasoline variety is sold for 8.20 lei at Petrom, 8.21 lei at Lukoil, and 8.28 lei at OMV, while premium gasoline has surpassed 9 lei per liter.
Fuels increased in price on Wednesday by 15 bani and on Thursday by another 9 bani, amid rising Brent crude oil prices to 85 dollars per barrel, compared to 72 dollars at the end of last week. Approximately 50-55% of the final price of fuels at the pump consists of taxes and excise duties. While the Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, stated that the Government is analyzing the reduction of taxes to avoid a price of 10 lei per liter, President Nicușor Dan claimed that there is no possibility of reducing the excise duty.
