Fuels continue to get more expensive, with prices nearly at the records reached at the end of March.
After a recent increase from OMV Petrom, standard diesel costs 10.27 lei per liter, while gasoline has reached 9.26 lei per liter. Analyses show that diesel is less than 10 bani below the historical maximum of 10.35-10.38 lei/liter, while gasoline is approaching the record of 9.33-9.35 lei/liter.
Prices have risen for the fourth consecutive day, with all distributors following the trend initiated by OMV Petrom.
In this context, the Chamber of Deputies has adopted a law that allows for the re-declaration of the state of crisis in the fuel market and introduces stabilization measures, including the temporary reduction of the excise duty on diesel.
The state of crisis will be in effect until October 31, 2026, with the possibility of extension. The law also includes capping the commercial markup and limiting price changes to once a day.
