Lane emphasized that tight monetary policy could hurt economic growth. Action should be taken until the inflation threshold reaches 2%. Although the ECB has already cut its benchmark interest rate three times this year, Lane warned that inflation is not yet at the ECB's desired level. It is expected to be reached in mid-2025.
