The retailer Decathlon Romania will open a new store in the Plaza Romania shopping center, planned for the summer of 2026. This will be the first opening of the year, and the company will reach a total of 6 stores in Bucharest and 32 nationwide. The current portfolio includes stores in 27 cities, with varying sizes adapted to the local market. The new store will offer a wide range of sports items, including for cycling, running, and fitness, and will be designed to meet the needs of urban consumers.
Decathlon anticipates an increase in the consumption of sports products for 2026, especially in emerging segments such as padel, road cycling, and trail running. Although Romanians are becoming more cautious in spending, the interest in an active lifestyle remains high. In 2025, sales of bicycles and mobility items increased significantly, and hiking footwear was the best-selling product. The company aims to continue investments in modern stores and to support the growth of sports practice in Romania.
