The Competition Council has given the green light to the transaction through which Corden BioChem Romania S.R.L., part of the German group ICIG, will acquire certain assets from Getec Servicii Energetice S.R.L. This acquisition will allow Corden BioChem to resume bioethanol production at the factory in Podari, Dolj County, which will become operational in 2026. The competition authority has determined that the transaction will not negatively affect competition in the Romanian market. Corden BioChem plans to use the existing infrastructure to produce first-generation bioethanol, using local raw materials, and estimates a production capacity of tens of thousands of tons annually. This initiative will create new jobs and contribute to meeting legal obligations regarding biofuels, thus reducing dependence on imported fuels.
