The Competition Council authorized the transaction through which Islambay Suleyman intends to acquire Sterk Plast S.R.L., a company headquartered in Medgidia and active in the production and sale of plastic household and domestic-use articles. Suleyman already held a stake in the company before the transaction.
Following its analysis, the competition authority determined that the transaction does not create significant obstacles to effective competition on the Romanian market and does not raise serious concerns regarding its compatibility with a normal competitive environment. The decision will be published on the Competition Council’s website after confidential information has been removed.
Islambay Suleyman also holds stakes in Ecofriend Recycling S.R.L., a company specializing in the collection, recycling and recovery of plastic waste, as well as in the supply of recycled and regranulated raw materials.
Sterk Plast was established in Constanța in 2000 by Hacı Vural and Süleyman Islambay. In 2006, the company moved its headquarters to Medgidia, and between 2015 and 2018 it built a new factory.
In 2025, Sterk Plast reported a profit of 1.63 million lei, down 91% from the previous year, and revenue of 165.9 million lei, up 4%.
