Blocul Național Sindical President Dumitru Costin and Labor Minister Florin Manole discussed on Tuesday, October 27, 2026, the reforms needed in the labor market and the main issues facing employees in Romania. The meeting launches a schedule of focused discussions between BNS and the Labor Ministry.

Union members are calling for a new wage law, setting the minimum wage in a way that protects purchasing power, and correcting pension legislation. BNS is calling for periods worked under difficult or special conditions to be properly recognized when pension entitlements are determined, given that employers pay additional contributions.

The proposed agenda also includes the transposition of European directives on platform work and pay transparency, as well as reforming the Labor Inspectorate. Union members are calling for measures to reduce undeclared work and provide more effective protection for employees.

BNS has also requested support centers for foreign workers in Romania and the identification of a solution for recovering the financial entitlements owed to some Romanians working in Germany. The issues will next be analyzed together with the minister and his team to identify legislative and administrative solutions.
