Dumitru Costin, president of the National Trade Union Bloc, announced on Monday that the minimum wage will be analyzed within the National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue, which is expected to be convened in the coming days.

The statement was made after union representatives held talks with Prime Minister Luca Niculescu. According to Dumitru Costin, the issue will be addressed on the basis of concrete data and figures, starting from the proposal put forward by the Ministry of Labor.

The new development is that negotiations on the level of the minimum wage will continue in a tripartite framework, bringing together the Government, trade unions, and employers’ organizations. The forum is expected to analyze the economic and social arguments underlying the ministry’s proposal.

The National Tripartite Council for Social Dialogue is the body in which the Executive discusses important decisions concerning the labor market and wage policy with social partners. The exact date of the meeting and details of the proposal regarding the minimum wage have not been specified.
