The National Trade Union Bloc proposes three calculation options for the 2027 minimum wage, with values ranging from 4,583 to 4,793 lei. The union says the mechanism must protect purchasing power and ensure decent incomes for employees in Romania.

BNS’s main proposal is for the calculation formula to also include the loss of purchasing power from the previous year, so that inflation does not further reduce employees’ incomes. Under this scenario, the minimum wage would reach 4,652 lei.

The other options involve applying the current formula, based on inflation and labor productivity, in which case the minimum wage would be 4,583 lei, or setting it at 50% of the average gross wage, which would bring it to 4,702 lei. Depending on the formula used, BNS indicates a general range of between 4,583 and 4,793 lei.

Meanwhile, Labor Minister Florin Manole announced that employers’ organizations and trade unions have also submitted proposals to reduce taxation on the minimum wage or transfer certain contributions from employees to employers. The options are to be analyzed by the National Tripartite Council.
