Prime Minister Luca Niculescu is meeting today, at 16:00, with trade union representatives at Victoria Palace to discuss increasing the minimum wage. Union members are calling for a gross increase of 675 lei starting January 1, so that the minimum wage reaches 5,000 lei gross.

In addition to increasing the minimum wage, the unions are requesting the resumption of negotiations on the wage law. Union representatives have also requested separate meetings with PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu and the Social Democratic ministers in the Government.

The discussions are taking place after the prime minister met last week with representatives of employers' organizations. The position of the business community is different: employers' organizations are calling for the decision on increasing the minimum wage to be postponed, citing the impact on companies.
