Two Romanian spouses, a 37-year-old woman and a 43-year-old man, were found dead on Friday morning in their home in Valverde de Júcar, in Spain’s Cuenca province. The woman, Georgiana, was in the process of separating from her partner, and investigators are examining the possibility of a murder followed by suicide.
The alarm was raised by the woman’s father, who went to the address but received no answer, although he knew the two were inside the home. He called 112. To enter the property on Mayorazgo Street, Civil Guard officers requested assistance from firefighters from Motilla del Palancar. Medical crews were unable to do anything for the victims.
According to preliminary information, the man allegedly fatally stabbed his wife and then took his own life with the same weapon. Two girls, aged 6 and 14, were staying with a relative at the time of the tragedy and have been left orphaned. They will temporarily be cared for by their maternal grandparents or, if that solution is not possible, by the regional authorities.
The man had no previous complaints for assault, while the woman was not registered in the VioGen system. The case is classified as gender-based violence. The two had not been living together for approximately one month. The local council declared three days of mourning, canceled local events and organized a moment of silence.
