A 37-year-old Romanian woman and a man were found dead, with signs of violence, inside a home in Valverde de Júcar, Cuenca province, Spain. The Civil Guard is investigating the case, including the possibility of an assault linked to gender-based violence, although this lead has not been officially confirmed.
The woman had lived in the community for several years and was the mother of two minor daughters. The younger daughter is six years old and was born in Valverde de Júcar, while the teenager attends the local high school. According to people close to them, the woman and the man were in the process of separating. They said they were unaware of any arguments or previous episodes of abuse.
The first call to the 112 emergency service was registered at 7:43 p.m. Civil Guard crews, paramedics and firefighters from Motilla del Palancar responded to the home on Mayorazgo Street and had to force their way into the property. Doctors confirmed the deaths of both people and were unable to begin resuscitation.
The investigation is continuing to establish the circumstances and exact causes of the tragedy. A psychosocial assistance team from the Red Cross was also deployed at the scene.
