A 48-year-old Romanian woman originally from Botoșani was found dead in her home in the Finglas district of Dublin on Sunday night, following a report received by the police. The woman’s partner, also Romanian, was detained and charged in connection with the case.
Police arrived at around 04:30 at the home on Melville Terrace and discovered the woman’s body. The victim had lived in Ireland for several years, was engaged, and worked at a pharmacy in Dublin.
A few hours before the body was discovered, the woman had posted a photograph on social media showing visible injuries to her face. Investigators are examining the possibility of a knife attack, as well as information that the Romanian woman may also have been assaulted in previous months.
The woman’s partner was found and detained in a shopping centre approximately six hours after the body was discovered. He appeared before the judges but chose to remain silent. The investigation is primarily considering the possibility of a dispute between the two, which may have escalated.
The home was cordoned off for forensic examinations, while police are checking surveillance camera footage and speaking with neighbours. Authorities are asking witnesses and drivers who were in the area to provide relevant information or recordings.
