Loredana Moroșanu, a 48-year-old Romanian woman originally from Botoșani, was found dead on Monday morning in her apartment in Dublin, after allegedly being stabbed. The main suspect, a man aged approximately 40, was detained the same day at a shopping center in the Finglas area, about seven hours after the murder.
Emergency services were alerted shortly after 04:00 at the victim’s home on Melville Terrace. Medical crews attempted to resuscitate her, but the woman was pronounced dead. Police suspect that the attacker and the victim knew each other and are investigating reports that the Romanian woman had allegedly been harassed and subjected to violence in recent months.
According to the Irish Times, the man allegedly fled the scene on foot, scaling a wall and a railing. Authorities issued an alert to patrols in Dublin, amid fears that the suspect was armed. He was found and apprehended at around 11:00.
Loredana had lived in Ireland for more than ten years and worked at a pharmacy in Dublin. Neighbors said that she had recently moved in and that, approximately a week earlier, they had heard a scream coming from her home. Police are analyzing surveillance footage, conducting door-to-door checks, and searching for the murder weapon.
