The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MAE) announced on Wednesday that a Romanian citizen has died, and another was seriously injured following a fire that broke out on July 14, 2026, at a construction site in Brussels. The fire resulted in the death of six people, and several others were injured.

The lifeless bodies were recovered from a stuck elevator in the Oxy tower after a rescue operation that lasted several hours. The injured Romanian citizen is hospitalized and receiving medical care. MAE is maintaining contact with the Belgian authorities and the medical unit, being prepared to provide consular assistance.
