The Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Thursday that a Romanian citizen was among the passengers of the trains involved in the railway tragedy in Spain.

The man confirmed to the Romanian authorities that he was injured in the accident and received medical care. According to information provided by the MFA, he was not hospitalized after the initial assessment.

The Romanian citizen is due to undergo additional medical examinations during the day on Thursday. The ministry has not, so far, provided details about the nature of his injuries or the exact circumstances in which they occurred.

Information about the Romanian citizen was obtained as part of the consular efforts undertaken by the Romanian authorities after the railway tragedy. The MFA is monitoring the situation and remains in contact with the affected person, and will communicate any relevant updates. The case remains under the authorities’ attention, alongside the checks concerning the accident in Spain.
