A fire broke out at the Pneumophysiology Hospital in the municipality of Brașov, in Ward 1, in a room located on the first floor of the building. According to the Ministry of Health, a person was found charred in the room, and initial information indicates that the victim may have been the patient suspected of causing the fire by setting a mattress alight.
The incident was initially handled by the medical facility's staff, who managed to extinguish the fire before the emergency crews arrived. At the same time, ten people in the affected area, patients and medical personnel, self-evacuated safely.
Interventions are underway at the scene to ventilate the smoke-filled areas and manage the consequences of the fire. The authorities are to establish the exact circumstances in which the fire occurred, as well as the victim's identity and the circumstances of the death. The information is preliminary, and the investigation will clarify whether the fire started from the mattress that was set alight, as indicated by the initial information provided by the ministry.
