The German government, under the leadership of Chancellor Friedrich Merz, has launched a comprehensive package of economic and social reforms. Among the announced measures are tax incentives of approximately 10 billion euros for low-income individuals.
These tax cuts will be financed by increasing the maximum tax rate from 45% to 47% for annual incomes over 280,000 euros. The reforms also aim to modify the pension system, as well as accelerate the construction of more affordable housing, a crucial aspect for residents of major German cities, where rents have significantly increased.
Additionally, the government will implement administrative measures to reduce bureaucracy and social fraud, including the digitalization of administration and reducing the number of employees in ministries. In the context of a slowing German economy, analysts believe that these reforms could contribute to economic recovery. The measures will influence, depending on each family's income, taxes, access to housing, and pension rules.
