A 48-year-old Romanian died on a beach in Italy after being harmed while swimming.

A 48-year-old Romanian man died on Friday, August 14, at Lanterna beach in Scoglitti, Italy, after suddenly feeling unwell while in the water. Witnesses intervened and brought him to shore, where they began first aid procedures.

Although there was initial hope that the man would survive, his condition rapidly deteriorated. Preliminary reconstructions suggest that he may have suffered the onset of drowning, which could have contributed to the deterioration of his health. The emergency medical crew 118 arrived at the scene and performed resuscitation maneuvers; however, despite their efforts, the doctors were unable to save him.

The Carabinieri from Scoglitti and Vittoria have launched an investigation to determine the exact circumstances of the tragedy, including the potential role of drowning in the man's death. Witness testimonies and forensic findings will be essential in clarifying the events.
