A tragic case occurred in Alba County, where a 42-year-old woman was placed in preventive arrest after allegedly killing her baby immediately after birth. The incident took place on December 17, when the woman gave birth in her home bathroom, cutting the umbilical cord and hiding the child in a household bag, leaving it to die.
After arriving at the hospital with hemorrhage, doctors alerted the police, and the baby was found the next day in a pile of clothes. The autopsy confirmed that the baby was born alive, and the death was caused by acute cardio-respiratory failure resulting from an unassisted birth. A psychiatric evaluation determined that the woman was of sound mind at the time of the act. She was detained for 24 hours, and on January 15, the Alba Tribunal issued a preventive arrest warrant for 30 days. The woman had another child.
