Weather conditions will turn markedly colder in Romania over the next few days, as the rain gradually moves away. Skies will clear, and sunshine will be present in most regions, but nights and mornings will become increasingly colder.
The lowest temperatures are forecast for Sunday and Monday morning, when temperatures will fall below freezing across the country. In eastern Transylvania, lows could reach -10 degrees Celsius, while in other regions they will range between -4 and 0 degrees.
Florinela Georgescu, director of forecasting at the National Meteorological Administration, explained that weather conditions will improve. Light rain may still occur in Oltenia and northern Muntenia in the immediate period ahead, after which precipitation will become increasingly scarce.
The first below-zero temperatures are expected as early as the following morning, especially in the northern half of the country. In the depressions of eastern Transylvania, lows could fall to -5 or -6 degrees.
Bucharest will not escape the cold either. In the northern part of the capital, temperatures could approach zero degrees, while on Sunday and Monday morning lows could reach -2 or -3 degrees Celsius.
