Meteorologists are forecasting a sharp cooldown in Romania, with torrential rain, storms and temperatures below normal

Weather conditions will turn significantly colder across Romania in the coming days, with temperatures dropping by up to 14 degrees compared with levels recorded on Friday. In the west, north and center of the country, maximum temperatures will fall below normal for this time of year, reaching less than 20 degrees in some hilly areas of Crișana and in Maramureș.

In the southeast, the change will be slower. In Muntenia and Dobrogea, including Bucharest, temperatures may still reach 30–32 degrees. Atmospheric instability will intensify toward evening and overnight, particularly in Moldova, eastern Muntenia and Dobrogea. Torrential showers, storms, isolated hail and lightning are forecast.

Winds will temporarily strengthen, especially in the southwest and east, where gusts may reach 40–60 kilometers per hour. On Sunday, the cooldown will also be felt in the southeast, while the rains will become more limited, although they will still occur locally in the south, center and southeast.

Next week will begin with changeable weather and scattered rain. Temperatures will generally range between 20 and 27 degrees. Warmer weather is expected toward the middle of the week, on Wednesday and Thursday, when maximum temperatures will again approach 30 degrees, especially in the southwest of the country.
