In 2024, the UN report showed a 25% increase in incidents of violence against children in conflict zones, with 22,495 children affected. Sexual violence increased by 35% and attacks on schools by 44%. The worst affected areas include Gaza, DRC, Somalia, Nigeria and Haiti. UN officials and humanitarian organizations warn of the normalization of violence and call for immediate action to protect children, stressing that sexual violence is becoming an increasingly common tactic of war.
