The discovery of some vestiges from the Roman and post-Roman period, including "terra sigillata" type pottery and a hearth, was made by specialists at the Western Belt construction site in Timișoara.

The findings, dated to the 2nd to 4th centuries AD, were made during archaeological excavations conducted before the start of construction work, according to the Rador press agency. The research, coordinated by the History Museum in Satu Mare, uncovered fragments of pottery and evidence of human habitation in the area nearly two millennia ago. Along the 14-kilometer section of the future beltway, 13 points for archaeological research have been identified.

The Western Belt project, estimated at 1.68 billion lei, will include two lanes in each direction, four road junctions, and ten bridges, aiming to ease traffic in Timișoara.
