The National Union of Road Transporters of Romania (UNTRR) signals that the transit restrictions imposed by Hungary from 2026 will severely affect road transport between Romania and Croatia, causing delays and additional costs.

These restrictions are unclear and create operational confusion, leading to blockages in race planning and risks of sanctions. Romanian carriers will be forced to detour through Budapest, generating detours of over 200 km and additional costs of over 200 euros per direction, as well as tripling transit time. Additionally, the extra restrictions on main roads severely affect deliveries and logistics chains, delaying routes and impacting commercial contracts. UNTRR considers these measures to be abusive and contrary to EU legislation, requesting Hungarian authorities to allow transit on previous routes and to clarify transit rules. The organization will continue its efforts at national and European levels, including notifying the European Commission.
