Two police officers from Călinești, Argeș, have been sent to trial for serious acts of corruption, including bribery and abuse of office. They are accused of having accepted sums of money and goods from individuals involved in illegal logging, between March and May 2025. In total, 11 people are involved in the case, including police agents and wood transporters.

The police officers allegedly provided confidential information about inspections, ensuring that illegal transports were not detected. Additionally, one of them is said to have covered up cyber crimes, affecting the image of the Romanian Police. The criminal activity was carried out both during and outside of service hours, and those involved have been accused of various offenses, including incitement to intellectual forgery.
