Argeș: Man arrested for influence peddling after asking for 5,000 euros for a favorable solution in a criminal case

A man from a municipality in Argeș County was placed in preventive arrest for 30 days, being accused of influence peddling after he demanded 5,000 euros from a woman, claiming that he has influence over a chief prosecutor and that he can obtain a favorable solution in a criminal case in which her husband had requested a review of a conviction. The suspect was caught in the act on June 18, while receiving 3,000 euros from the requested amount, and subsequently, the Bucharest Court of Appeal accepted the preventive arrest proposal made by the prosecutors.
