A police officer from Argeș was detained for human trafficking and pimping

A 34-year-old police officer from Argeș was detained by DIICOT Pitești prosecutors on charges of human trafficking and pimping, accused of recruiting and sexually exploiting a victim in Romania and the United Kingdom. On Wednesday, prosecutors asked the Argeș Tribunal to remand the man in preventive detention for 30 days.

According to investigators, during 2023, the police officer allegedly used the “loverboy” method to deceive the victim and induce her to engage in prostitution. Subsequently, over several months, from January to May 2026, he allegedly facilitated her activity in Romania, including paying the costs of publishing advertisements promoting sexual services.

Investigators claim that the man allegedly kept a significant portion of the money earned by the victim. Following four home searches carried out on Tuesday, amounts in Romanian lei and euros, as well as goods and documents considered evidence, were seized.

The case was documented by BCCO Pitești police officers together with DIICOT prosecutors. The Argeș County Police Inspectorate says it firmly distances itself from the alleged acts and that legal measures will be taken regardless of the status of the person under investigation. Investigations are continuing to establish all the circumstances.
