During the period of February 9-15, 2026, the Romanian Police conducted the TRUCK&BUS operation, coordinated by ROADPOL, applying 14,612 contraventional sanctions following the inspection of 26,034 vehicles. The sanctions were varied, including 1,357 for exceeding the legal speed limit, 1,986 for not wearing seat belts, and 980 for violating driving time regulations.


Additionally, violations related to tachographs and technical deficiencies were noted. During the operation, police discovered devices for manipulating tachographs, sanctioning transport operators with fines of 12,000 lei and immobilizing the involved vehicles. Authorities emphasize the importance of these checks for road safety and announce that other campaigns will follow in May and November 2026.
