According to a study conducted by iSelect, the Transfăgărășan, the road that crosses the Făgăraș Mountains, ranked 4th in the list of the best routes for electric vehicle travel, out of a total of 48 routes analyzed worldwide.
This itinerary offers 90 charging stations over a distance of 136.2 km, and the cost of charging is only 2.87 EUR. With a rating of 4.8 on TripAdvisor, the Transfăgărășan achieved an overall score of 91.93 out of 100. The top three spots are occupied by the Gotthard Pass in Switzerland, the Kootenay Highway in Canada, and the Deep South in the USA, each with unique features and well-developed charging infrastructure.
The study evaluated distance, costs, and traveler reviews to determine the best routes for electric vehicles. On the other hand, the worst routes for these vehicles include the Savannah Way in Australia, the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland, and Route 66 in the USA, each having a low number of charging stations and high charging costs.
