A 15-year-old teenager died on Wednesday in the Balta de la Șimian, Bihor County, after entering the water together with another boy.

On Wednesday, around 6:20 PM, a call to the emergency number 112 alerted the "Crișana" Inspectorate for Emergency Situations in Bihor regarding the disappearance of a 15-year-old teenager in the Balta de la Șimian. Two boys entered the water, but only one managed to get out to the shore.

Search and rescue teams were quickly mobilized, including divers, to search for the missing teenager. He was found about 8 meters from the shore, at a depth of about 3 meters. Unfortunately, the doctor declared him dead. ISU Bihor emphasized that such tragedies occur annually, especially during the summer season, when high temperatures lead people to seek coolness in natural waters, which can be dangerous. Firefighters warned that swimming in rivers, lakes, or ponds can hide major risks, even for those who know how to swim.
