The general director of the Natural Disasters Insurance Pool (PAID), Nicoleta Radu, stated that 75% of homes in Romania do not have financial protection against natural disasters. Out of nearly 10 million homes, only 2.4 million are insured through a mandatory policy, which is insufficient to protect against earthquakes, floods, and landslides.

Nicoleta Radu emphasized the importance of risk awareness and individual responsibility, considering that recent floods have affected thousands of homes, and compensations have been limited. She also mentioned that Romania faces major risks, and exposure to disasters is validated by scientific data.

During the opening of the 'ReExpoziția', organized on the occasion of the 49th anniversary of the 1977 earthquake, PAID highlighted the need for financial protection for reconstruction after disasters.
