The United States will deploy between 400 and 500 military personnel in Romania, along with observation equipment, drones, and refueling aircraft, writes HotNews. Senators and deputies have been convened for a joint plenary session on Wednesday at 5:00 PM to be informed about the decisions of the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT), as well as to cast a vote, according to Cotidianul and Digi24.

The request approved by the Supreme Council of National Defense (CSAT) targets two air bases: Mihail Kogălniceanu and Câmpia Turzii.

The refueling aircraft will be deployed at Mihail Kogălniceanu, while Câmpia Turzii will receive the drones and monitoring equipment.

The American military presence in Romania is temporary, for a period of 90 days, with the possibility of extension.

Nicușor Dan assured in a press conference that the equipment is defensive and does not pose a threat, emphasizing that Romania remains a safe country. According to him, refueling aircraft, monitoring equipment, and satellite communication systems are set to be deployed at the bases in Romania.

Currently, Romania hosts approximately 1,100-1,200 American military personnel, most of them at the Kogălniceanu base.

"All this equipment is defensive and is not equipped with actual weaponry! For these equipment and military forces to arrive in Romania, the approval of the Legislature is needed. In this regard, I have sent a letter to Parliament and, as long as there is a favorable vote, they will be deployed based on the partnership agreement between Romania and the USA. Therefore, we are talking about a collaboration similar to that which many other NATO states already have with the USA these days. Romania remains a safe country and there are no reasons for concern. Moreover, this equipment enhances Romania's security, making it even better protected," the President of Romania later wrote on his Facebook page.
