The US Embassy in Bucharest has sent a message of support for the Jewish community, following the AUR's request to dissolve the 'Elie Wiesel' Institute and the Museum of Jewish History.

The US Embassy in Bucharest issued a message of support for the Jewish community in the context of the scandal generated by the extremist party AUR, which, through its organization in Balotești, requested the dissolution of the Elie Wiesel Institute and the Holocaust Museum, in the name of reducing public spending.

The Embassy emphasized the importance of education and the commemoration of the Holocaust in combating antisemitism, stating that these values are fundamental to Western civilization and are proudly upheld by the Romanian people.

Following the accusations, the leadership of AUR denied that the request from the Balotești organization represented the official position of the party, considering it an attempt at manipulation. AUR called for the withdrawal of the accusations made by the Elie Wiesel Institute, stating that there was no mandate for such an initiative.
