The trial in which Horațiu Potra and Călin Georgescu are accused of actions against the constitutional order has been postponed for the second time at the Bucharest Court of Appeal. The next hearing was scheduled for September 28, after one of the defendants’ lawyers requested additional time to study the case file and prepare the defense.

Horațiu Potra attended the hearing and stated that he does not consider himself guilty, saying that he is leaving justice to do its job. Călin Georgescu, a defendant in the same case, was not present.

The defense’s request was granted by the judges based on the case law of the European Court of Human Rights, which allows lawyers to request additional time to prepare the defense. The trial is at the first hearing on the merits, after the High Court of Cassation and Justice ruled approximately one month ago that it could begin.

If a new similar request is submitted at the September 28 hearing, the court may reject it and order the start of the trial on the merits.
