Călin Georgescu and Horațiu Potra, tried on Monday at the Bucharest Court of Appeal in the case concerning actions against the constitutional order

Former presidential election candidate Călin Georgescu, Horațiu Potra, and 20 other defendants are expected to stand trial on Monday, September 28, at the Bucharest Court of Appeal, in a case concerning allegations of actions against the constitutional order.

The case was registered with the Bucharest Court of Appeal on September 16, 2025. On April 2, the court ruled that the trial could begin on the merits, but the decision was challenged by both the defendants and the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The challenges were examined by the High Court of Cassation and Justice, which definitively rejected them on August 6, during the preliminary chamber proceedings. Through this ruling, the final procedural objections preventing the case from being heard on the merits were removed.

At the first hearing, scheduled for September 9, the Bucharest Court of Appeal decided to postpone the case until September 28. The court is set to examine the charges brought against the 23 defendants and establish how the trial will proceed.
