The Supreme Court admitted the request for revision filed by Remus Truică, former chief of staff of Adrian Năstase, in the Băneasa Farm case, where he was sentenced to 7 years in prison for fraudulent restitution. The request was initially rejected by the Ploiești Court of Appeal, but the Supreme Court considered that Truică had identified new facts that could change the perspective on the case. He was conditionally released in July 2024, after serving half of his sentence. In the case, Truică and others were accused of forming an organized criminal group and other crimes related to the illegal restitution of the Băneasa Farm and Snagov Forest, causing significant damage to the Romanian state. The Supreme Court emphasizes that the admission of the request does not equate to a final resolution of the case.
