The Alba Iulia Court of Appeal decided on Thursday to reduce the sentence of Victor Micula, initially sentenced to prison by the Bihor Tribunal. The court accepted the appeals of the defendants and changed the partial sentence, establishing a final sentence of 3 years in prison, suspended under supervision for a duration of 4 years. Micula will have to comply with certain obligations, including participating in social reintegration programs and performing community service.
In the case of the involved police officers, Claudiu Rengle and Alin Zancă, they were definitively acquitted of abuse of office. Camelia Erdei also received a suspended sentence. The trial was initiated in 2018 and involved accusations of illegal access to a computer system and abuse of function. The decision is final, and Micula has also been involved in other scandals related to weapons and illegal behaviors.
