The Straja resort will officially open the ski season on Saturday, December 20, with the expectation that two slopes will be operational, thanks to approximately 20 centimeters of artificial snow. Emil Părău, the president of the Pro Straja Association, stated that all 50 artificial snow cannons are operational, and the negative temperatures forecasted for the coming days will help create optimal skiing conditions.
Additionally, a thermal inversion phenomenon has been observed in the resort, with higher temperatures in Straja compared to Lupeni. At the season opening, there will be shows, competitions, and live music, including a group of carolers. Tourists can reach Straja by car or by the gondola from Lupeni, where there is a free parking lot with 300 spaces. The ski area in Straja offers 26 kilometers of slopes for all levels.
