The Turkish construction company Mapa – Cenghiz is working intensively on Section 2 (Boița-Cornetu) of the Sibiu-Pitești highway, having 460 workers and 160 machines on site.
According to the Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges Craiova, the works are progressing at a 'good pace', even in unfavorable weather conditions, with continuous work on the sectors for which the Construction Authorization has been issued. Currently, construction has started for 6 viaducts, with physical stages between 16% and 72%, and for the Robești tunnel, which has reached 34%. Section 2 is complex, including 7 tunnels and 24 bridges and viaducts. A new Construction Authorization is expected for the Balota tunnel and 11 viaducts.
The completion of the highway will connect southern Romania with Transylvania, significantly improving transport on the Pan-European Corridor 4. Estimates indicate the completion of the entire project before 2030.
