On Sunday morning, the mountain rescuers from Sibiu launched an operation to recover the bodies of two tourists who died in the Făgăraș Mountains.

They slipped Saturday from the western slope of Netedu Peak, along with a third person who survived. The deceased tourists fell several hundred meters down a steep slope, having no chance of survival. Due to the difficult terrain and weather conditions, recovering the bodies was not possible on the same day. The tourists were not properly equipped for winter, and rescuers decided to resume the operation on Sunday, with a team of 11 mountain rescuers who went on foot, supported by another four rescuers from a helicopter.
