The AUR's request to participate in a summit organized by Turning Point USA in the United States was rejected by the Romanian Senate, which argued that it is not justified to use public funds for external ideological lobbying.
USR Senator Sorin Șipoș criticized the request, stating that AUR promotes anti-Romanian and anti-EU messages. AUR, on the other hand, argued that the participation aimed at an interparliamentary framework and rejected the accusations of ideological lobbying. AUR spokesperson Ștefan Avrămescu mentioned the travel expenses of other parties, suggesting that AUR is treated differently.
Although the request was rejected, AUR announced that the three senators will participate in the summit, but without funding from the Senate, paying from their own funds.
