AUR is calling on the Government to reject the introduction of additional conditions for accessing European funds in the 2028–2034 period, arguing that they could link investment funding to reforms with no direct connection to the projects being financed.
The party maintains that Romania risks repeating the PNRR model, under which payments are conditional on meeting milestones and targets negotiated with European institutions. AUR is calling on the Executive to publicly present the negotiating mandate for the European Union’s future budget, the proposed conditions, the commitments undertaken and the consequences of failing to comply with them.
The party wants to know whether payments will depend on meeting national milestones, which areas could be targeted and whether failure to meet one condition could block projects that comply with technical and financial requirements. AUR is calling for shared management to be maintained, along with the role of regional authorities in determining investments.
The party is also calling for cohesion and agricultural allocations to be protected, national procedures to be simplified and guarantees provided so that local projects are not suspended for political reasons. In the event of conditions deemed contrary to Romania’s interests, AUR says the Government should also consider using its veto over the Multiannual Financial Framework.
