The Romanian Post continues to modernize its fleet to compete effectively with private courier operators. After acquiring 80 vans for approximately 4 million euros, the state company has launched a tender for the purchase of 350 electric scooters, estimated at over 14 million lei (over 2.8 million euros). The scooters will be equipped with luggage compartments of at least 250 liters and 50 liters, intended for the distribution of correspondence.

The deadline for offers is January 27, 2026, and delivery will be made within a maximum of 120 days from the signing of the contract. The General Director of the Post, Valentin Ștefan, emphasized that the goal is to reposition the company as a major player in modern courier services. In 2022, the Romanian Post had a market share of only 2.3% in parcel delivery, compared to private companies such as Sameday, Fan Courier, and Cargus.
