Cătălin Predoiu, the Minister of Internal Affairs, announced the signing of an order that radically reorganizes the activity of the Romanian Gendarmerie. This will move troops from fixed guard posts, which protect over 1,400 objectives, into mobile patrols, thus increasing mobility and response capacity.

Approximately 3,000 gendarmes will be redirected from interior posts to field activities, and the number of fixed posts will decrease from 1,273 to 252. Technology will play an essential role, with all objectives connected to the Gendarmerie's dispatch center, allowing for a rapid and efficient response. This reorganization aims to increase efficiency and reduce medium- and long-term costs, with the goal of improving public safety.
